PRSA Inspire Awards

Publicus Community Wins Best In Show At NCPRSA Inspire Awards

The Publicus Community is excited to be the recipient of four Inspire Awards, including Best in Show from the Public Relations Society of America’s (PRSA) North Carolina Chapter (NCPRSA).

Since its inception in 1947, PRSA has become the largest organizations representing public relations professionals. The organization recognizes creative excellence, professional ethics and standards in the public relations industry as a whole. The Inspire Awards are NCPRSA’s annual event honoring the best in public relations and communications from across the state of North Carolina.

“Accepting these awards from such a prestigious organization is an honor,” said Peter Dawyot, Managing Director of The Publicus Community. “Recognition from NCPRSA and our peers in the industry means so much to all of us. I am truly proud of our entire team and thankful to them and their families for supporting our work. Our outstanding clients continue to give us such wonderful projects that it makes working fun.”

The May 12, 2015 ceremony recognized The Publicus Community in two areas under the Business Products and Services Category, specifically Newsletter Campaigns and Brochures.

The community brochure for Thistle Golf Estates (Sunset Beach, NC) was recognized with an Award for Excellence. Currents Newsletter and Digital Campaign, a bi-annual newsletter for the ultra-private resort Deep Water Cay (the Bahamas), was recognized with an Award for Excellence, Best in Category and Best in Show.

Publicus Community Managing Director, Peter Dawyot was featured in a recent article by YFS Magazine that looked at various titles for heads of companies. In the article, Dawyot discusses his opinions on leadership titles and why he chose “Managing Director” as his title, rather than titles of others in similar positions like “CEO”, “Entrepreneur”, “Founder” or “President”.

YFS Magazine is a monthly publication and online source for entrepreneurial leaders across the US and internationally, focused on articles about the day-to-day operations of running a business.

Publicus Community Wins District ADDY- On To Nationals

The Publicus Community, a full-service advertising and public relations firm was recognized by the American Advertising Federation’s ADDY Awards at the District Level for their creative campaign for Currents Magazine.
This latest ADDY Award recognizes Currents as among the best creative design for a digital newsletter between NC, SC and VA.

Currents is a quarterly digital and print magazine centered around Deep Water Cay, an ultra-private resort in the Bahamas. The magazine features intriguing articles and profiles of those associated with the area, the resort and island’s residential opportunities.

“The ADDY’s are the gold standard of the advertising industry and to have this project recognized by our peers is a welcomed accomplishment,” said Peter Dawyot, Managing Director of The Publicus Community. “We are thrilled to now have our work go on display at the National Addy Awards Ceremony.”

The American Advertising Awards is the advertising industry’s largest and most representative competition for creative excellence. The three-tier national competition is conducted annually by the American Advertising Federation, advertising’s largest industry association and the only one to represent the interests of all facets of advertising: advertisers, agencies, suppliers and media. The AAF is based in Washington, D.C. and has more than 40,000 members through 200 local advertising clubs.

“We are so very thankful to have received this recognition,” said Dawyot. “I am very proud of all of our designers, copywriters, digital strategists and account managers and so thankful for our wonderful clients who afford us the chance to be so creative.”

Deep Water Cay Featured In Garden & Gun

Deep Water Cay, the Bahamas’ most iconic fishing resort is part of a special feature in the February/March 2015 Edition of Garden & Gun.  The article entitled “The Hidden Caribbean”  is a look-back at Deep Water Cays formative years through the eyes of Guy De La Valdene, a close friend of Gil Drake Jr., the son of fishing legend Gil Drake.

De La Valdene spent summers during his high school years working at Deep Water Cay and recalls vivid memories of an island that hasn’t changed much since his summers in the early 1960’s.

The Publicus Community serves as the Advertising Agency of Record for Deep Water Cay.

Publicus Community Featured in Entrepreneur Magazine

Peter Dawyot, The Founder of The Publicus Community was recently featured as a source in an article for Entrepreneur Magazine. The article, “Running a Business While Dealing With a Personal Loss” reflects on leaders who successfully manage a company while dealing with a loss of a loved one.

In the case of Peter Dawyot and The Publicus Community, this loss occurred during a business trip. “I had been pitching a client in Idaho and was returning home when I found out that my mother had passed away,” said Dawyot.

During this time, Dawyot continued to build The Publicus Community by increasing the number of employees, gaining new clients, and representing the company’s clients to the best of the company’s abilities, all the while finding ways to honor his mother.

In the time that followed, the success of The Publicus Community continued to grow. The work that was created for the client in Idaho that was secured during his mother’s death, was recognized with numerous awards, including an Addy from the American Advertising Federation, and a Gold Medal in the Sir Walter Raleigh Awards for Excellence in Communication.

Publicus Community Featured As Expert Source, In Story On “Top Word Crimes.”

Peter Dawyot, Managing Director of The Publicus Community is featured in an article on Vertical Response regarding “Top Word Crimes” and other mistakes made by marketers and companies alike, when trying to reach their audience. The article looks at how overused words like “epic”  and alternate spellings of words, like “peek” and “peak”, can plague an email advertising campaign.

“We had a fun time coming up with some of our top word crimes around the office,” said Dawyot. “There were so many to choose from. Oftentimes with email campaigns,  you have a very short window of  time to produce a concept that carries both an effective message and is very current to the moment. We pride ourselves at creating campaigns that do this and avoid these common mistakes that are addressed in the Vertical Response article.”
